For many people, the mind rarely feels quiet.
Thoughts move quickly. One worry leads to another. Even when nothing is happening around you, the mind can feel busy and crowded.
This is actually normal.
The human mind is designed to think. It plans, remembers, analyzes, and imagines.
A busy mind by itself is not a problem.
But something often happens without us realizing it.
We begin to identify with the activity of the mind.
Every thought feels personal. Every worry feels urgent. Every mental story feels real.
When this happens, the body reacts.
A stressful thought can tighten the chest.
A memory can create a wave of anxiety.
A future worry can make the heart race.
Nothing outside may be happening in that moment, but the body responds as if it is.
Because of this, many people try to solve the problem by controlling or fixing their thoughts.
They try to think more positively.
They try to push certain thoughts away.
They try to quiet the mind completely.
But the mind naturally produces thoughts.
Trying to control it often creates even more tension.
The issue isn’t that thoughts exist.
The issue is that there is no space around them.
